Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Expressions Slow/speed a footage

Hi ! I have a footage whose speed I’d like to slow and speed at will, so as to focus on an element, I’d also like to avoid ending up with a thousand keys in time remap, especially since I need to know when I’m in slow motion or normal speed. I thought I could just use a slider and a *time expression (something like time*effect(“CTRLtimespeed”)) but for reasons anyone more experienced than me will understand, it doesn’t work.

To make it clear, I’d also like to be able to lengthen the footage like this. For example, if I slow two seconds into four, when I tell my footage to go back to a normal speed I don’t want it to suddenly accelerate to catch up with the lost time. It needs to add the times I’ll have slowed.

Is there a way of doing this? Or am I destined to juggle time remap keys?
