  • Macbook Pro mid-2015 15″ sluggish booting Creative Cloud

Just since a few weeks ago I started experiencing extremely slow boot time on my 15″ Macbook Pro mid 2015 running High Sierra and it might be choking on Adobe Creative Cloud when launching, but I’ll describe the full boot procedure as it could be system performance.

    Shut down is smooth.
Boot gets to Apple progress bar which is filled in 3 minutes but takes another 8-9 minutes before it gets to password.

Opening to desktop is quick enough, but going through the opening procedures is slow; Chrome opens but it’s another 4-5 minutes before it raises a “page not responding” error. Trying to launch anything at this point fails.
Logically, since this is just booting so far it suggests it’s all system sluggishness. But at 26 minutes after starting gong it raises the error:

“Adobe Creative Cloud is needed to resolve this problem. However, it is missing or damaged. REPAIR or QUIT?
Every time I’ve clicked repair hasn’t changed anything in the above sequence. A Creative Cloud installer comes up, then “Installing Creative Cloud Desktop”. After 9 minutes it announces “Creative Cloud Update Available” (if I update it takes some time yet the update notification persists next boot).
I’ll often get a notification “Creative Cloud is taking longer than usual to load. Relaunch Creative Cloud or Restart your computer and start again.”

If I try to launch Premiere Pro 2018 at this time it takes 4-5 minutes to get to the project screen. This is about 50 minutes after the reboot gong!

I’ve neglected upgrading (obviously) so I’m not sure what the matrices would be for my Macbook Pro, OS, and Creative Cloud version. I don’t think I’ve ever done a clean reinstall.

    What’s my course of action?
