Advice on new camera for a YouTube channel
Hi all,
After seeing some of the videos that my 3 year old likes watching on YouTube I became interested in starting my own channel but need some advice on what kind of camera might be the best one to start off with.
So a few points about the channel I’m thinking of creating and what kind of camera I will need:
- The channel would basically be playing with toys & opening toys from just behind the camera, meaning it would need to record from close range – so all the recording would be happening from less than half a meter away.
- It would need to be decent quality, such that it can be viewed on a smart TV by the family without feeling low quality.
- It would need to be compatible with a shotgun mic so I can isolate the sounds right in front of the camera – I have a bus lane right outside my window which will make things difficult if I don’t get the right kind of mic.
- Compatibility with different lenses could be a plus if you guys think that might help boost the professionalism of the footage.
- I would prefer not to spend more than a hundred / couple hundred dollars at most on the camera itself as I will also need a tripod and sound equipment, but I appreciate advice on all models regardless of cost so I can see if I think it might be worth it.
- Live streaming / portability / night vision / long range zoom will not be required.
- Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
