  OMFs to import into premiere to make a video edit?

  I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to use OMFs from an audio edit in protools to edit video? I know that importing OMFs was not supported in earlier Adobe Premieres and I wasn’t sure if that is still the case. Regardless, I don’t know even know if that is a thing, editing a video sequence based on an audio cut since that seems backwards from everything I’ve ever done, sending omfs for sound edits.

  I have a music engineer sending me OMFs of a musical edit from a multi camera shoot. I had asked for a list of his edits by timecode but he is sending me OMFs instead. I wanted to check and see if his way is even possible before I make his life trouble and request the timecode list.

  I tried a test on my machine and it doesn’t appear that importing OMFs is possible. You should ask your engineer to send the edit as an AAF, with non-embedded media (assuming they are sending media as well). He should also enable “quantize edits to Frame Boundaries” in the export options, so you don’t get clips with NLE unfriendly lengths.
