    New to FCP and wonder if I can change the way FCP re names duplicates. Every morning when I start I copy my Project for safety. They have Content Created listed anyway, so I know which is which. But if I duplicate my project named CURRENT VERSION EPISODE 02, FCP waggishly decides to call the copy CURRENT VERSION EPISODE 3 -not great if you have 8 episodes, one of which IS EPISODE 3, but not the right one of course! And you really have to wrestle FCP to get rid of these damn numbers. Is there a way I can get it to do what Avid does and just copies the thing, with ‘copy’ added to to its name? Thanks Guy

    Look in to using snapshots instead of duplicates.

    You can then setup a smart collection to keep the most current Project in there and have another smart collection that filters out the snapshots to keep things tidy. I have a smart collection called “Current Projects” and a smart collection called “zSnapshots”. There are differences in what happens when you snapshot a project vs duplicating it.
