    I followed this tutorial to do a simple wheel rotation in 2D- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3LJrSDTiws
    I parented the wheels to the car layer. When I pickwhip the wheel rotation expressions to the x position of the car, the wheels orbit off the car instead of rotating in place. This is a screenshot of my AE comp-
    10670_carmotion.mov.zip I did notice that his expressions don’t change value and mine do. Why is this? I’ve spent hours with this and it doesn’t make sense why it won’t work. Is there some internal reset in AE to make this work right?

    Hi Paula. Are the anchor points at the center of the wheels? If not, use the Pan Behind tool (shortcut Y) to place them in the center (don’t use the anchor point setting in the layer’s Transform Properties which will just move the wheels around). Was that the issue?
