    Hey guys!

Once again I’m using the one and only 3D plug-in Zaxwerks Invigorator to do my 3D stuff in After Effects. My project stopped when suddendly I had to create a 3D hill. Okay, yeah, of course, a 3D Hill, like 3D relief, every 3D models website has that. But I want 3D grass on it.

Any type of grass; little, (not moving of course, like in particle illusion), big,… etc. I downloaded a little square of grass (not so little, but not big either) on the net and I said to myself:” Okay well I’ll put all the little square, one by one, by duplicating them on a big 3D plane, I’ll play with the camera and see what I can do to make it look as an hill with the Distort Effects or whatever”. Pretty easy to say, by the time I putted 5 or 6 squares of grass, just turning the camera or zooming (all this into Invigorator, of course) took hours. I don’t really know how to explain this in english but…the render…it was prettyyy long…

So I just wonder if someone ever tried this or has a solution? I have Illustrator CS and I’m beginning to be pretty familiar with it but the idea of creating a 3D relief in Illustrator (like an hill) seems wrong, in my head, Illustrator only creates flat 3D surfaces.

Any help would be glady appreciated, like always 🙂

I have Particle Illusion too, but it’s not 3D grass.

    Thank’s a lot guys!

    Really need some help here.

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and buy and learn a real 3D application to do this sort of thing. (or hire someone) I believe that many of those apps have hair and fur generators (possibly as plugins) that can be used to simulate grass.
