After Effects mask not revealing the layer below?
Posted by Jordan Davies on July 26, 2016 at 8:44 amI’m working my way through a project and leave it for the night. When I come back the mask I was using as a cut is no longer working. The layer below should be being revealed but it just isn’t anymore? Have I hit something by mistake? See image:

July 26, 2016 at 5:59 pmI don’t see any track mattes, but have you perhaps applied an effect to that layer that is ignoring the masks?

July 26, 2016 at 6:05 pmAs far as I can tell, the selected mask covers the entire layer and is set to add, which means that this mask is not set to reveal or cut anything out.

July 26, 2016 at 6:48 pmThe white space behind the car should be revealing the layer below, you can see the time indicator showing its over the 2 layers. No mattes or anything applied. It was fine yesterday and opened it up today and it’s lik this. Strange!

July 26, 2016 at 7:22 pmI see the mask on your layer, but I don’t see outline of the mask in your composition window. Are you sure it’s path didn’t get changed to something larger than your footage?

July 26, 2016 at 7:32 pmYeh I just hadn’t the mask selected when I took the screenshot. You can see the shape of the mask in the white space to the right of the frame.
