I use a couple of cool freeware programs called “Wink” and “Wax”, developed by Satish Kamur at debugmode.com. I asked him if he’d be intrested in developing a 3D plugin for AE and here was his response:

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. What are the features you are looking for in such a plugin for AE? If you can give me the full feature list you want in this plugin I can check if I can do that..

Well, I gave him my starter list, but I’m sure that a little encouragement from you guys couldn’t hurt either. Check out his site and his programs – they’re really quite impressive – and I’m sure you’ll start cheering him toward the finish line. You can find his user forums here:

Free usually beats the heck out of $645.00 for Zaxwerks 3D.

Just the ‘freeware feature’ gets me interested 🙂

    woahwoahwoah

Lots of things are missed in AE 3d default features. Possibly the most important one is the extrude option. Any plugin that could integrate an extruded layer with some basic features integrated into the layer without a filter. z depth for cubes, for example. But I certainly don’t know if that’s possible.

You may want to have him wait until AE 7 arrives. Adobe is well aware of the fact that users are wanting better 3D integration. I would hate to have him duplicate what Adobe is already doing.

hehe… which is what will happen to my script, I have no facts to base myself on, but I am quite sure of it.
