  remove/attenuate white contour around the face and hair

  If you had a video containing images such as this one:
  

  How would you remove the white halo/contour around the character’s hair and face and shirt?

  I’m not sure where to start. I’ve tried curves, but I can’t get satisfying results.

  (She was keyed out from an awful green screen, with wrinkles and light contrasts).

  What effects did you use to do the key? Did you do the keying in AE? Have you tried the Refine Matte effect?
