  Invisible Object Cut(?) After Effects Help

  Hi there, I’d like some help with creating an object wipe transition, sort of like an invisible cut.

   

  The vector object moves across the screen revealing the new clip behind it. Currently, I’m just animating the movement of the object and then separately a linear wipe with a strong feather.

   

  Is this something that After Effects can do with Track Mattes or something? I have a bit of experience with AE but can’t figure this one out, any help would be much appreciated!!

  Also kind of looking for a workflow for this if possible, because of the number of objects I have to do this for! I’m creating the final edit in Premiere.

  If you make a new solid, at least the width of the comp and then move it so that its right edge is in the middle point of your vector object. And then parent this to the vector object, so that when you animate it across the screen, your solid will stick to it.

  Make sure the new solid is below the vector object, but above one of the video layers. Then set the video’s track matte to Alpha Matte. The solid’s visibility will turn off and the video will only appear where the solid is.
