Trapcode MIR – Filling between a wireframe - Adobe After Effects

Hi Lee,

I didn’t remember that Mir was so bad at filling faces at the same time as drawing wireframes, but here’s how you can make it work:

Use white material.

Shader: Phong shader
Draw: Front Fill, Back Wire
Blend: Normal
DepthBuf: On

Rotate you Geometry to Z: -90, X: 90, Y: 0

Create a spot light and place it directly above the geometry at a good distance.

While both the front face wireframe and the back face fill are white, the light position causes the back face to be black.

It’s not perfect, but it will probably work for your purposes.

… oh well, it’s actually much easier in Mir 2 ( I have version 1). In Mir 2 you have a second-pass wireframe option.

I also have version 1 as I’m using CS5.5. This is a hobby for me and I can no way afford CC.

I think I’ve pretty much got it. It still has a little bit showing through from being the mountain, but with a bit of fettling with the fog, it should clean up alright. :]
