Best way to do this flame-like effect
Hello guys,
my first thread here hope its a right place for searching for help. Im doing some stuff in AE for a pretty long time but its pretty much just simple 2D “material” graphic stuff. Now i would love to add some special effects to it. I really like this one: (1:53 – blue flames coming out from behind the selected card.)

Wjat do you think what is the best way to do it? Any ideas, plugins?

Hi. There are a lot of ways of going about that sort of effect. A basic one would be to add the Fractal Noise effect to a solid: Fractal Type = Strings/keyframe the Evolution (then play with the other settings [contrast, scale etc]). Add the Tint Effect and change black to bright green. Precompose the solid then in the original composition key out the green (which will give you an alpha background) add Tint effect and change white to blue. Add the Glow Effect. As always playing with the effects settings can make a huge difference.

Sorry, forgot to say to use the pen tool to create a mask the size you want after you add the Fractal Noise effect, then feather the mask.
