  Does anyone know how to achieve this look of the animated text, like distance blur coming together?

  Looks like the Radial Blur effect with a decreasing radius.

  CC Light Burst and another similarly-named CC Effect can do that better than a radial blur.

  If you plan to do this sort of thing a lot, you could also look into getting Trapcode Shine.
