if / else expressions to define and control individual text characters
Hi!
I’m interested in building an animation which involves a single text layer, that could be formatted in a way that is repeatable, no matter how long my text layer is. For example:
Let’s say my text reads ‘HELLO’ which is 5 characters. Could I (and how do I) write the following
if text = 5 characters, position of character 1 =, position of character 2 = etc…
I would then animate positions A and B using a slider, A is the position I set above, and B would always be 960,540, animating in place.
The expression would be long, each character would have a new x,y for each text length, which I would set up manually, probably up to 15 characters.
The hope is to have a single text layer, that formats and positions itself without needing to manually decompose text, randomise position, animate in place etc.
Any thoughts are hugely appreciated – may not be doable but I know some of you have a wealth of knowledge on niche expressions.
Thanks,
TJ
