  how do i create a counter that counts by itself?

  So how do I create a counter? Do I need an expression for this? I want to create a counter (using the text object) that counts down from 500 to 486. What is the easists way to animate this? Can I just enter the Start 500 and the End 486 and how long it takes and AE will calculate the inbetweens for me? how?

  Effect>Text>Numbers would be the simplest way to do it. Animate the value from 500 to 486 with keyframes.
