I’m needing to do some simple animation varying the Y position of a robot’s mouth shape to coincide with the spoken word (no music) and have tried several options but no luck so far. Tried the MoGraph Sound Effector and it does the trick, but apparently only operates on MoText objects. Also tried GSG’s Signal plugin, but I think it only responds to a music input, but can vary anything animatable based on the BPM. At this moment all I’m able to figure out is to simply put a Vibrate tag on the mouth object and let it go about its business randomly moving about the Y axis, close but hardly a “lip-sync”. Any suggestions?

I may be wrong but if you put the mouth geo into a fracture object, left at ‘straight’, then apply the sound effector to the fracture object, you should get what you need.

Yep, you got it. So often, like pre-comping a layer in After Effects, just applying the dependable Fracture Object in C4D makes it all better. I ended up using Pose Morphs, but would have rather not had to deform the geometry, so this is the preferred method, and simpler! Thanks.

Ha yeah thats how i think about it too, like a precomp. If i can get stuff into the mograph module, i will!
