New hardware
Hi all,
I’ve been out of business for, quite, a while so do not send me stones, pls.
My last Workstation had a Targa 3K…
I want to do a couple of personal projects and decided to build a WS again.
My source material will be:
– 60% video files from a Nikon D800
– 40% from Beta SD, DigiBeta and HDV archive.
The projects will be edited on 1920*1080 and exported for DCP (DCP-o-matic), Blu-ray, and a PAL version for DVD.
I want to have 2 large “menu” monitors in 4K each (for software) and a “Video Out” for a Television and/or a projector (HDMI in both cases).
5.1 audio is also need.
What should I connect to an NVidia board and what to connect to an I/O board.
Advice on an I/O is welcome.

Maybe my post was confuse.
My main question is:
Where should I get the main “Video Out” for a Television and/or a projector,
from the capture card or from the Nvidia?
I will be using only 2 monitors for menus and the GPU will have 3 or 4 HDMI ports.
And the 5.1 audio, from a dedicated audio board?
Any advice, pls

What editing software do you want to use? If cross platform then I would be using PC hardware with a Decklink card. If you want to use FCPX, then you must use Apple hardware. Your software choice determines your hardware options

You can use cross-platform gear on the Mac side as well.
There are high/low-end options.
I use a BMD UltraStudio 4K for both Mac/PC at home and Avid Artist IO which is basically a BMD UltraStudio 4K Extreme.In the past, BMD Decklink PCI cards and yes for both PC and Mac.
I use all of the above with REDCINE-X, FCP/FCPX, Premiere/AE, and Avid.
