Monitor switches off comp preview and monitor goes blank
Hi,
Does anyone have this problem? I have two monitors. One is for my timeline, and I use the other to preview my compositions. Frequently when I’m working on something, if I use an
arrow key, sometimes I don’t know what causes it, I lose the picture on my monitor. If I click on any other composition I regain the preview monitor connection. I can and have lived with it for a long time, but I’m wondering if there’s a solution to this. Thanks.

Are you using Mercury Transmit to push the signal to your second monitor or do you just drag the comp panel over to that monitor?
What OS are you using?
What GPU?

I’m using OS Mojave 10.14.6. I have a MacPro, (late 2013), 3.5 GHZ 6-core Intel Xeon E5. Yes I use Mercury Transmit and drag window over.

If you’re using Mercury Transmit, you shouldn’t need to drag any windows anywhere.

You’re right, I just turn it on with Mercury Transit I guess.

I’ve found Mercury Transmit can occasionally get cranky. I haven’t quite nailed down what’s causing it for me either. Does toggling Mercury Transmit off and on again make it return? / on the numpad is the key command, I believe.

Are you using the one on your main keyboard or the number pad?

Glad it worked! If you keep having issues with it kicking off and you can troubleshoot it a bit and figure out what’s causing it for you, I’m sure the AE team would love to get a bug report so they could fix the issue.
