  Premiere Pro: RED with audio imports with wrong timecode

  Hi all

  I have a problem importing RED footage that has Audio.

  When I import the clips (via Media Browser) on all the clips with audio the MediaStart timecode is off by anything between plus 11 and 27 frames.
  But only on the clips with audio, no matter what frame rate and what resolution. The clips without audio are correct.

  I noticed this when I wanted to import an XML into Davinci Resolve to grade. I got a message telling me the time codes on some clips were not matching with the original. Checking with REDCINE-X Pro the timecodes are all correct in Resolve but the ones with audio are off in Premiere Pro.

  I also tried exporting one of the clips out of REDCINE-X Pro with R3D Trim without the audio. But Premiere would still mess up the Time code by the same amount.

  The clips were shot on Monstro 8K VV in REDcode 10:1 IPP2. All was shot in different frame rates and resolutions. Some of the clips have audio and some don’t.

  Have you tried creating a simple timeline in REDCINE-X and export an XML?
  To see if there is something going awry with the metadata.
  Have you tried other NLEs?
  Resolve has a free version that will at least let you import R3Ds.

  As I mentioned REDCINE-X reads the timecode properly so there’s not much point exporting an XML from there…

  well yes, as mentioned I’ve imported it in REDCINE-X and Resolve and works in both, but I need to do the layout work in in Premiere Pro, and usually Premiere can handle RED without a problem. So I was wondering if someone has experienced this before and might have a hint on what could be the problem.
