Sony A7S footage choppy on new machine
It’s only 1080p at 50fps, encoded as H264.
Three and a half hours of it (so transcoding doesn’t sound like fun).
I have interpreted the footage as 25fps, so the strain on the machine should be the same as normal 1080p because it’s playing 50fps footage @ 25fps.
Anyway it’s a new laptop that I thought would be able to handle this, but maybe not.
It’s a Lenovo P53S.
Intel i7-8565 @1.8GHz
16MB Ram
Quadro P520
Footage on external SSD coming in via via USBC 3.1 Gen 1So to describe what I’m seeing, the footage plays, but it’s like it’s playing the frames out of order, so I’ll see it flickering back and forth between random frames within the clip.
The project plays fine on my beefier desktop machine with RTX2080, i9 processor and 64GB RAM, so it’s not data corruption. I’m hoping there’s a config option I’ve missed or something.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers
Markus
