  • How do I orientate an object using the blue 3d arrow?

I was watching a tutorial about a guy who orientated an image in 3D in AE. He used one of the X Y Z arrows [the blue one z] and flipped the image flat. Did he use any special keys to do this? Because everytime I click on the blue arrow after selecting the rotation tool, only the image flips. The x y z arrows dont rotate or flip. How do I use the arrow to flip orientate an image or object?

You can choose what the arrows should do, I think now by default they are in View Axis Mode: Up keeps pointing up.
In the tutorial It would have been set to Local Axis Mode.

There are 3 Axis Mode buttons on the toolpalette at the top of your screen (it Tools isn’t hidden)
right in between the tools icons and the “Set Orientation/Rotation for 3D Layers” popup
