Swirling Christmas Tree

It has a ribbon and particles.
My questions is how do you do this in After Effects and AE only?

November 4, 2011 at 2:21 pmOh. That should be fairly easy to do. Just create an animation on your emitter and set the particles to have a no velocity.
One way to get the swirly animation, would be to parent a light to a null object and move the light closer to the null object as the null rotates around its y axis and moves upwards. Then have Particular follow the light with the emitter.As far as the ribbon goes, it’s just an image of a ribbon (you could make it in Photoshop fairly easily) being revealed with a stroke (follow any write on tutorial).

November 4, 2011 at 2:23 pmAlthough, now that I look at it, they didn’t even go that far. That’s not in 3d at all. You could do this with any particle system in 2d. Just make the emitter follow the swirl shape.
