  AJA T-Tap for monitoring

  Hallo everybody,

  I hope you can answer me this question quickly, since I have to give answer soon.
  I have an option to get a T-Tap, and I would like to know, if I have to connect it to a high end HD Broadcast Monitor for doing CC and grading, or if it will be also quiet adequate if I connect to a good screen, such as a Dell Ultra Sharp with IPS?
  I have also an older SD Broadcast Monitor – will that help with Grading HD footage, when connected over the T-Tap?

  You can connect SDI to the SD monitor, and HDMI to the Dell. Use that as a BROADCAST monitor? I wouldn’t trust it…even if you used a screen calibrator. Well, it might be close. Depends on how close you can calibrate it to bars.

  But no, using an SD monitor for grading HD is not a good idea. Completely different color space (Rec 609 vs Rec 709)…and black levels are different.
