I just got an AJA Io La card and I urgently need to digitize a few Betacam SP PAL tapes (I will have them till Monday). I work on FCP and the desired codec is ProRes HQ (I have to provide a hard drive with the video in this codec).
    My problems:
Well, first of all I want to have the best quality digital copy possible, so I want to be sure that everything is foolproof before I start digitizing.
Second of all, I need the original Betacam Time-code and I can’t seem to get it.
Third of all, I want to control the J-10 (I should be able to via Rs422 connection, but it doesn’t seem to work).

If somebody can have a look at my workflow and say what I am doing wrong, I would be very grateful. Thanks!

Sony J10 is connected to Aja Io La.

    Component:
    Y – Y/G
    R/Y – Pr/R
    B/Y – Pb/B
    External Sync – Ref Loop
    Rs 232 to RS 422

    ProIO Control Panel settings:
    Preset 1
    Video Input: Analog
Video Input Format: Component (SMPTE/EBU N10)
    Video Format: 625i 25
    Output: Component (SMPTE/EBU N10)
    Composite Black Level 7.5 IRE
    Control: Ref IN

FCP Easy Setup AJA Io La – PAL EBU N10 10 Bit Uncompressed

    Thank you,

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Tim
