  • updated aja io to 3.0 software for tiger now can’t see in FCP

Posted by Mpigott on September 7, 2007 at 8:18 pm

I had noted that Tiger needs the 3.0 software of aja io software, so I did the aja io
uninstall then the re-install with NTSC analog presets.

Now in Capture preset (Audio Video Settings) it sees the AJA IO
such as YPbPr betacam 10 bit

It sees the aja io rs-422 controller

but in Video Playback it sees only

    none
    or missing ProIO..NTSC…..etc
plus the kona 2 outputs but this is fine

    and for audio playback

it states Missing Pro IO Out.

I have cycled the power on the IO many times and did many reboots
but FCP will simply not see part of the PRO IO

    thanks for your help

I should also add that Tiger is the latest
and Final Cut Pro is 4.5HD
    and quicktime is 7.2

FCP 4.5 really wants Quicktime 6.5.2 or whatever the last version of QT6 was. QT7 and FCP 4.5 really don’t play well together. Quicktime 7.2 has also been a little problematic even with the most up to date FCS2.

Is it possible to roll back the QT to the 6 version on
    Apple OSX 10.4.10?

    Thanks

Unfortunately, no. At the very least you could ‘roll back’ to 7.1.6, but the process is a long one.

Oddly enough, I HAD the Aja IO working
with FCP 4.5 AND Tiger after the recent
OS upgrade from Panther to Tiger with an
older version of the Aja drivers; but I
must had gotten lucky on the first time.

I am going to rtry some even older versions
than 2.1, to see if this will work.

And the weird thing is at the present state
of non-workingness is that that FCP sees some
of the io for capture I believe; but not for
    playback of audio or video.

I have until end of business day to get this
fixed or my boss will call in the FCP experts
in Michigan to come across the border to
    help!

Hoping I can get it going Monday September 10th!

    Thanks for your help

Yeah 4.5 and Tiger does work, it’s just not the recommended setup. At they very least, I’d get rid of 7.2.

This morning I removed the aja io drivers for 3.0
    (recommended for Tiger on aja.com)

I started up the chain with v 1.2 driver
then I tried 1.31 and it works nicely
and the FCP sees all of the io settings both input
    and output

Next step is I am running both HD (Kona 2 test)
and SD (aja io) looping the playback and letting it
    play for half an hour.

    So far so good!
