  Converting to Imovie from Hi-8

  I’ve used my AJA IO to convert lots of things into Final Cut Pro, but I’m tryingt to help a friend import some HI-8 footage from his camera/deck into Imovie to edit. Like most of the Ilife apps, ther is very little info other than to say that it should be possible to import through converter boxes. There is no kind of set-up menu to use to interact with the AJA, but assuming it is connected correctly, I would expect to see audio and video. What am I missing?

  this is a guess, since I don’t use iLife or iMovie. These things all work with Quicktime files. Simply download AJA VTR Exchange, capture your footage using the AJA I/O composite video input (from the Hi 8), and now you have a quicktime file of your media. Use iMovie all you want now.

  Probably late with this comment but hi-8 is S-video so you should use that input.
