Cannot capture with IO la
brand new g5 dual 2.7 tiger. Updated OS from software updater, final cut pro to 5.02
Have a kona 2 hd installed
Using IO LA for analog
Trying to caputre from sony betacam analog through IO la.
Downloaded newest firmware, loaded it and power cycled
updated firmware from the new control panel
Made sure I was using IO LA installs.
checked cables, deleted preferences…CANNOT see any video input in capture window. Checked cables tried all inputs. S-video, composite, component… Nothing. Just color bars that say preview disabled.
when just pressing capure now, message says deck not in vtr mode.
checked to make sure switch on deck was flipped to proper outputs… All correct.Check the control panel… It says no video input
Led on IO la shows there is input and changes to the proper light when I switch from s-video to component etc…I have to solve this immediately.
Can anyone please help?Sorry I was not able to peruse forums if there is an question similar… There is no time…

Have you simply gone to EASY SETUPS and selected a setup, like Betacam 8 bit uncompressed? If it’s on DV, you ain’t gonna get anything ! If you still don’t get anything after you do an easy setup, go into audio/video settings, click on Capture Presets, scroll down to whatever is checked, double click on this, and see what is actually selected in this window for the video input.

I have an IO at home, but man, this stuff just does not work. Sad to say, things worked fine for me when blackmagic used to write the drivers… Yes, this was Wayyy back then when the first kona hd was out… I had the IO then as well.

yes I checked the easy setups. First thing i did… But the second part of your suggestion, I did not check… I will look at it when I get back in the morning. Million dollar bet that is going to look right. But who knows… Let you know about it.

If you’re sure the config is correct, call aja and they will promptly switch out for a new one. If your io at home works, why don’t you bring that in to use in the meantime?

We had this problem, trashed the prefs in FCP and all was fine. I have two AJA LA and one IO and have very little trouble with them.

your post is NOT a newbie post. I went into an AJA I/O today, with the updated firmware, and could NOT get any video into the system, until I
went to the Pro I/O control panel, and switched it BACK to ANALOG and component, instead of SDI and embedded audio. I had set this a few days ago, and the system was powered down, and when it came back up, it defaulted to SDI embedded, instead of Analog.SO, I quickly learned how to use the PRESETS tab, which is the first tab in the Pro I/O control panel.
So, this is NOT a newbie question. but the real question becomes – is this a feature, or a bug??????

I’ve had this problem ever since the control panel was fully implemented. I set one or more presets and the next time I boot up they’re gone. The IO defaults to SDI input. I sent a note to AJA, no response.
