  • Igniter 8-bit Extreme UC compatible with AJA

I am currently using the Aurora IgniterX in a G4 Dual 867. I am onlining a long form documentary and my footage is all digitized at IgniterX 8-bit Extreme Uncompressed. It seems that the footage can be played in an AJA system. Does anybody know if I can just change over to an AJA LA or Io system and have my full project play properly.

    Any thoughts appreciated,
    Thanks,

Not sure about the Igniter codec but I’ve been using Blackmagic UC codec in the same way and it works as if it was an AJA captured file.

Is there a link to download the Igniter codec and does it make smaller files than the Apple UC codec?

I recently gave a clip to a friend who has AJA and it seems he was able to play it no problem.
Next step will be to create a sample project.

I couldn’t find an Igniter Codec on their site. It can be installed from the custom install of the Igniter disk.
But, it appears that since it is compatible with Apple’s Extreme 8-bit Uncompressed that maybe they are interchangeable.

Do you have a preference for Blackmagic over AJA?

    Thanks for your response,
    Michael
