  Gamut errors

  Hi. I’m outputting a PAL digital beta using AJA Kona with all latest updates. I’m using Prores HQ.This is a broadcast deliverable.

  My scopes (Videotek TVM-821D) are showing me persistent gamut errors all the way through the film.

  I’ve tried FCPs broadcast safe filter, RGB limiter and I’ve also tried rendering with Color’s broadcast safe filter. Everything fails to get rid of the gamut errors without drastically changing the look of the picture.

  The picture has come graded from a DI facility in REC709. It is supposed to be broadcast safe for HD. I’ve had to downscale it to PAL res. Will the Kona handle the 709 to 601 conversion? Could this be the problem? Or do I need a hardware legaliser?

  How is your Kona setup for the downconvert?
