  • Output 1080p and 525i simultaneously?

Posted by Michael Craven on February 25, 2010 at 3:34 pm

    Howdy,
Is it possible to output HDSDI 1080p 23.98 and SDI 525i 29.97 at the same time? I’ve tried unsuccessfully. Either my settings are incorrect or it can’t be done with what I have. Does the Kona not add pulldown when downconverting?
Kona 3. FCP 1080p 23.98 sequence with video output to match. Kona SDI 1 Primary set to native 1080p23.98 and SDI 2 Secondary set to 525i29.97. The HDSDI out works fine but I get garbage on the SDI 2 out. If I change the FCP video output to 1080i, they both work, but I no longer have progressive output for SDI 1.
Am I doing it wrong or is that just the way it is?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi There,
I take it one SDI is feeding your monitor and the other the deck???
Anyways, if you are trying to make 2 dubs at the same time, can’t you output HD to your HD deck, and patch the SD out of the HD deck into your SD deck and crash record on the SD?
There might be a way to remote both machines but that’s above my head.

Yea, I guess that might work. I was just curious if it could be done straight out of the Kona. One SDI feeds the HDCAM and the other the Digibeta.

How are you monitoring your work then?

    Monitor for each deck.

You can’t. Kona must be in 1080 psf 23.98, not p.

Once it’s in psf you can do both.

Sorry, I should have been more clear in my first answer.

It’s just a straight down convert, but the card needs to be in psf and not p.
