  Need help with the component output…

  URGENT… need help with the analogue output…

  We are making a feature film in China using RED ONE camera.
  And we use Kona 3 card with breakout box to play dailies right off the
  camera.

  We connect the camera thru SDI to a Kona 3 card which is installed in a Mac Pro. Then we output the analogue signal thru component cable to the projector.

  All works fine until we moved to a new location.
  At first we got some flicking picture on the projector, and then there is totally no output from the breakout box.

  We have checked the projector and the component cable, they works fine.
  And we also open the Mac Pro case to make sure Kona 3 card is properly
  installed.

  The AJA Control Panel diagram looks the same as before with 2 SDI output and 1 analog output (all being 720p60) all working, but there is no output of analogue signal (thru component).

  I have tried bypass the breakout box, still,
  there is no output from component.

  It is been a lengthen and frustrated process to do the trouble-shoting.
  And I hope anyone can help us with it.

  What is the External video out set to in FCP, it has to match your sequence?

  I have been using Kona 3 as a conversion box for SDI to component.

  I connect the SDI output from RED into the card and output it as component to the projector.

  And the problem is that I cannot not get any analogue output from the card.

  Are you putting the card in input passthrough mode in the Control tab of the Control Panel?

  no… I cannot get the output even I am in mac desktop mode.
  The SDI works fine, but there is no output on analogue.

  DOn’t know what to say. If you are putting the card in input passthrough mode, the SDI output works, the analogue doesn’t work and you are absolutely sure the component cables are hooked up correctly and your frame buffer is set to match the incoming video signal and your monitor is capable of displaying that type of signal, then you might have a bad card. Call or email AJA.

  Max –
  forget the Red camera.
  Close FCP. Open AJA Control Panel.
  Set format to 525 both primary and secondary.
  Go to Control Tab.
  Select Test Pattern Color Bars.
  Go to ANALOG tab.
  select Component Y Pb Pr.
  Take the Y output cable, and send it into a TV monitor (not your projector). Do you see black and white color bar image ?
  Take the Y output and send it to your projector. Do you see black and white color bar image ?
  Go back to FORMAT. Change it to 720p.
  Do you get hi def bars going to your projector.

  Forget the input passthrough mode for now. Just use the color bar signal to get an image onto your TV and onto your projector. If you can’t do this, you cannot proceed. Do you have a TV monitor to do these tests with ?
