I need to connect the AES outputs on my Kona 3 into an Audio suite but noe of the audio kit wants to word sync to the aes outpus – I just get a loud hissing noise. Is there a way of getting the Kona to clock to another source or of extracting a word signal?

I assume you are willing to spend some money.

The Lucid GENX192 will take an AES input, and create a sync’ed word clock signal for your system.

The Digidesign Sync IO will lock to house black, and output a Word Clock signal for your audio system. If you don’t have a black gen, the composite video out of the Kona 3(the Y output) can go into the
video Ref input of the sync IO, and will generate a word clock signal for your audio system.

The Apogee Big Ben will also do this. Please state what your DAW is.

Thanks Bob – I solved it with and old AES to Tdi converter and a Motu 2408. I now have a Logic 5.1 Setup

I need to sort out Dolby E now…….
