Is there a difference in data rate if I capture DVCProHD via SDI using my Kona versus the Firewire port? Shouldn’t it be approx 100mbit/sec. either way??

I captured a bunch of footage via DVCProHD 720/30p footage via firewire, and it’s data rate reads 59/mbits per second. I would have expected around 100mbits/second.

    Nope.

    Yup.

if you captured 720p60…59.94fps, then you’d be at 100mbps. 30p, 29.97…is half that. 24p…23.98, is under a third of that. 100mbps is based on the 720p60 format, which is what DVCPRO HD runs at on tape. When you capture it at 29.97, you are removing frames and thus lowering the data rate.
