FLYING COW POWER SUPPLY?
Posted by Jim Blokland on August 20, 2007 at 12:46 pmHi Cow-ers:
Anyone with a Flying Cow 24-bit convertor out there know what amount of DC power supply it needs, or if one can still be purchased somewhere? Would you mind checking and getting back to me?
Thanks in advance.
Best, JIM.

August 20, 2007 at 1:07 pmOn the back of the AC Adapter it says:
OEM AC Adapter
Model AA-091A5Input 120VAC 60Hz 20W
Output 9 VACHowever, where it actually plugs into the back of the Flying Cow unit, there is no +/- legend telling me whether the ring is hot or the center is hot. If you don’t get the proper format you’ll fry the box. You can easily get a new power supply at Radio Shack or Fry’s, but I have no idea how to test which way that plug is set up.
If you need a new unit, you can also look at AJA’s ADA4 converter box which we also have here in our second suite. It’s a bi-directional A/D audio converter as well.

August 20, 2007 at 1:14 pmThanks for the quick reply Walter.
I would normally consider the AJA box, but I’ve got an opportunity to pick up the Flying Cow (sans power supply) for $20 CDN! Perhaps I could get the info from the folks at M-Audio…
One more question, when it says Output 9 VAC, does that mean the power supply is actually A/C? I would have assumed that most of these supplies are converting A/C to D/C current…
Thanks again for any further insight.
Best, JIM.

that’s how I’m reading it. VAC would be A/C

August 20, 2007 at 4:02 pmI don’t have one but if it is A/C, then polarity will not matter.

August 21, 2007 at 12:53 amIt definitely is A/C, as Walter suggested. I’m trying to track one down from M-Audio via a local supplier, just to make sure it works.
Thanks for all the help folks.
Best, JIM.
