Erroneous Shift Fields Filter
Posted by Walter Biscardi on June 18, 2007 at 1:05 pmJust posted an entry in my blog that would apply to anyone opening a high definition project that was started / completed in FCP 5.1.4 and now opening in FCP 6. We’re seeing erroneous Shift Field errors.

June 18, 2007 at 2:53 pmWe’ve had this also. When you first open the project in FCP 6, it asks if you want to correct the shift fields filter from the previous version. DON’T DO IT! It adds shift fields with a -1 value to all of your shots.
Not sure what this is about.

Not sure what this is about.”Don’t know either, this is a MAJOR issue that will completely screw up playback of any HD project. Have no idea how Apple missed this before the release. Only took me 5 minutes to find it.

June 18, 2007 at 7:19 pmJust saw that this morning, this I had a backup file I hit yes but it didn’t seem to add a filter, would this be hidden away somewhere?

June 18, 2007 at 7:33 pmNo, it would show up in the Filters tab if it was really being added. Might have only added it to one or a few clips in the timeline or possibly not at all.
Either way, this message really should be taken away.

June 18, 2007 at 7:37 pmThe timeline is concert so there are probably 500 edits, wouldn’t want to double check them all.

June 20, 2007 at 2:11 amIf you are in a time crunch, you can temporarily remove the shift field filter from your plugins folder and your timeline will play back normally.

June 20, 2007 at 5:05 amOn second thought, will you still be able to render? I’ve run into issues where FCP won’t render when it is missing the filter someone applied in offline.
