    Hello All,

Looks like all the tools are in place to create an excellent grading option for our larger FCP Room.

    For FCS 2 I can get a Tangent/Cooper control surface, a software scope, and a ??? LCD.

We have a great room that can be darkened nicely but the monitor debate rages on. The facility that is at the top of the grading suite pile in our town constantly ranting about the quality of their monitor. That is a Spirit telecine room

Am I crazy with the software scope??

What presented at NAB in the Quality Monitoring stakes- ECIMEMA?? PANA SONY – Bob ?

    Best

eCinema has a $24,000 LCD display that is supposed to be a “true CRT replacement.” It was not in the booth when I went by, but Shane Ross did see it.

In our latest “All Things Apple” podcast (episode 3), Shane and I discuss our picks and pans of NAB and he does discuss a $4,000 eCinema model along with the Sony Luma test they had at the show.

I was looking out for this specifically, but sadly it wasn’t there on the Monday or Tuesday. I’d be interested to hear any feedback. Also on the LCD front, I was hugely impressed by Sony’s new BVM-L230, and it’s the first I’ve seen that properly measures up to the previous generation Grade Ones. They had them mounted side-by-side, and it was very, very difficult to tell the difference. To my eyes at least! The off-axis viewing is particularly good. It ain’t cheap, but if you want the best …

    Best wishes,

    Tom
