Kona LHe downconvert vs. FCP Sequence “downconvert” Questions
I’ve got an HDV 1440 X 1080i project in FCP that I’ll also need at 525 720×486.
Has anyone tested the quality difference between downconverting and printing to tape via Kona, vs. nesting the HDV sequence in a 720 X 486 sequence and printing that to tape? (My initial results show that the Kona downconvert produces better results — but I’m interested in other opinions.)
Also, should the sequence that will be downconverted be kept at Upper Field, or set to Lower Field for D1?
Finally, any tips on getting the playback offset right (other than lip syncing trial and error) would be appreciated. The Kona output preview has audio behind video on both my computer monitor and my ntsc monitor.
Thanks,
Bruce
