  Kona LH and video preview switching

  We’re having a lag issue when switching between FCP 5.0.4 and After Effects 6.5. What happens is sometimes it takes a few seconds to release- sometimes not at all. And then sometimes it gives the spinning beach ball o’ death/locks up.

  LH is connected to Kona2 card on a PM G5 DP running 10.4.3

  anyone else see this issue? Is the frame buffer getting confuzzled priority wise when switching apps?

  just took a look at the crash reporter logs- it seems somehow konaoutputcodec and konamuxer are affected by AE…..

  along with quicktime and other assorted 250-thread count threads.

  it’s on QT 7.0.4 – wondering wether upgrading to 7.1.x would help.

  this is one of the fixes in the new drivers released today.

  Interestingly enough, issue still persists- however it might be a G5 Quad issue- as both machines are quads. Also they are running 10.4.3- and we can’t update OS because SAN is 10.4.3- and we can’t do that until we implement a more robust backup plan.
