  Kona 2 + Panasonic D5 deck

  Hi All,

  I’m going to be doing onlining something using D5. Up until now I’ve only used HD-CAM or HD-CAM SR. Has anyone used a D5 deck to capture and lay off 10-bit HD uncompressed with the Kona 2? If so, any pitfalls? I believe the footage is 23.98.

  I used this deck to digitize from on a project last year and I had no problems at all.

  Just check to make sure that you are using the Panasonic RS-422 device control settings. Like any deck you should also calibrate it to make sure that you are getting accurate pulls & layoffs. I use a D5 almost daily at work.
