  • After Effects – spotlight not showing

I have done this before, but for some reason I can’t recreate the effect.

  • I have a black solid layer (3D, z-index positioned further back) and a light layer (spot).
  • I do not have draft 3D on, and my layers are set to 3D.
  • I’m sure it’s something simple but I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere online.

    Thank you!

I don’t understand what you’re trying to do.

I’m just trying to create a spotlight on a black solid, but not seeing the light.

There’s you’re problem. If you light black, it is black. And it will look like nothing.

Create a white solid, it will be black in the areas that the spotlight doesn’t hit and be white where it’s lit up.

Want to say thanks for the solution since the original guy who posted did not have the courtesy to do so. Thanks!
