After Effects – spotlight not showing
I have done this before, but for some reason I can’t recreate the effect.
- I have a black solid layer (3D, z-index positioned further back) and a light layer (spot).
- I do not have draft 3D on, and my layers are set to 3D.
I’m sure it’s something simple but I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere online.

There’s you’re problem. If you light black, it is black. And it will look like nothing.

Create a white solid, it will be black in the areas that the spotlight doesn’t hit and be white where it’s lit up.
