No firewire output on Kona LS
I just got a Kona LS fully updated (v.1.1.3) on a G5 dual 2.0 running OS 10.4.2…I have been running everything on the AJA 10bit Uncompressed codec until now and it has run perfectly. I have redigitized everything in DV NTSC and am working ‘offline’ on a DV project/timeline. For some reason my firewire is acting up and it won’t output the DV signal to my deck. I tried refreshing the external devices, but this seems to only result in glitchy video and then it eventually cuts out. My external video is set to ‘all frames.’ Any ideas? Can I view external video thru the Kona card while working in DV?

I’m pretty sure you can as I do this with the Kona 2. Use the DV Easy Setup and then change your Audio / Video Playback to the Kona card.
As for the Firewire port, do you have any other video sources other than the deck attached to it? I don’t have any problems here with the Firewire outputs and my Kona 2.

Thanks Walter. I am having the same problem with my other FCP (5.0.2) system which is DV only. The fire wire ports work because my fire wire drive is running fine on the same ports. The camera i’m running into it works on my laptop and video comes out fine. Is this a tiger/fcp 5 glitch? should i consider getting a new firewire pci card?

Yes, you can, but you have to choose to monitor the Kona or your DV deck. If you use the FCP DV easy set up your firewire ports should be active with the FCP dv signal, if you choose to monitor using the Kona 8 bit to dv easy set up, your kona card will be active and you can monitor that way.
