  • latest stable QT version for KONA SD?

There was a thread post that was very helpful for support (from BM) of the Kona SD card . Although thread did address BM’s driver support, I don’t think the latest version of QT was mentioned for those w/FCP4.5 and OSX 10.3.8. What is the most stable QT version?

    Thanks

    Sean

PS Thanks to everyone that posts for the KONA SD. I purchased the KONA SD. Just a few months later, I felt very unsatisfied when I was made aware that to upgrade my card, for future AJA support, I would have to pay an extra $1500+. I didn’t and still don’t need HD. (want it, but don’t need it) I do need companies to support what they sell, not just offer upsells. I am aware that this is old news to most who read the cow, but no one has heard it from me & there are probably many others that feel a little disgruntled.

Hey Sean, the official stable QT for FCP 4.5/OS10.3.8 was 6.5.2.

I’m running QT 7.0.1 and a FCP 5 system with a Kona SD and the beta BM drivers, everything has held together *very* well so far. BM has really done us a favor by supporting the Kona SD (which is a very good card, honestly). I really thought it was going to be another Digital Voodoo (talk about being left out in the cold with some vaporware). Because of that support, I’ve bought Decklink cards for our last two systems.

    Hi Sean,

Thanks for your post and I have added QuickTime information to the technical note at https://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/detail.asp?techID=86 as a result of your question. We currently recommend QuickTime 6.5.2 for Panther and QuickTime 7.0.1 for Tiger.
