LT05 Unarchive Tape Error
(Apologize for a double post, but I posted this in the wrong forum, in Storage)
Howdy folks, long time reader, first time poster! Be gentle!!!
I have an LT05 tape that is causing me some issues and I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions on how to fix?
I’m unarching a tape, which runs fine, untill it gets to a single file, which causes the tape to error and quit. The tape has around 1.3 TB of data, but crashes out after restoring just a few hundred GBs
Here is the last few lines of my logs

tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting nowI also have a script I usually use for archiving and unarchiving and it says
usr/local/archive/tar: /dev/nst0: Cannot read: Input/output error
/usr/local/archive/tar: Too many errors, quitting
/usr/local/archive/tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar error 2I’ve tried options such as
–exlude – Excluding the issue file type
–ignore zerod
-i
–ignore-command-error
But everytime they hit the bad file, it stops. Is it possible to skip problematic files on LTO? Is there a way of recovering the rest of the tape? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
