  • Connecting VTrak x30 to Fibre Switch

Just a quick question. I currently have a Promise VTrak x30 up and running very well, however it’s only used by four machines currently. As such, we haven’t yet needed a fibre switch (we’re running two fibre links from each controller to each machine). We’re looking to scale up by adding a fibre switch so that we can add additional machines to the SAN. My question is whether there is any throughput benefit from connecting more than one link from each controller on the SAN to the fibre switch? In other words, would I gain any real world benefit from using, for instance, two 8Gb links from each controller on the SAN to the switch (so four fibre cables total)? My fibre switch has more than enough ports so if there’s a benefit I want to take advantage of it. Thanks!
