We are looking to move from Final Cut Studio to Adobe Production Premium CS6. Does anyone know of any issues with using Premiere Pro/After Effects/Photoshop in an XSAN or MetaSAN environment?
We currently use FCP with MetaSAN/MetaLAN and it works quite well, but if XSAN comes with Mountain Lion, that would be an ideal choice.

I have never used MetaSAN or MetaLAN

But to answer your other question, Premiere Pro works great in an Xsan environment.

The last time I checked, although XSAN is free the annual support costs more than the metaSAN/metaLAN products. I would think about the cost of ongoing support and updates. Of course if the cost is not an issue there is also the time it takes to become familiar with a new SAN management environment. Since you already are familiar with metaSAN/metaLAN it will provide you with more time to get up to speed on your new Adobe suite.

    Hey Howard

Great point. I’m curious, is that support from Apple directly, or are you talking about support from an integrator/specialist?

With Xsan, you’re pretty much on your own, which is part of why it’s now free. You need a specialist because you’re not going to get any support from Apple. If you have a better support team for MetaSAN/MetaLAN, then I agree that Patrick should stick with that.
