I need to set up 4-5 fcp/ae systems running off shared storage.

All will being working with 8-bit 1080p media.

been using a bunch of 8 drive sata raids but need to upgrade to share media.

I’m thinking abut using metasan rather than xsan for cost reasons.

    so I’m thinking:

    infortrend 16 drive FC-sata chassis.
    5 fibre cards.
    gigabit hub
    fibre hub?
    metasan…

any suggestion on best value components?

also, this system will be moved around in ROADCASES for touring use. Is this completely impossible?
    best ideas for transit?

    what else do i need?
should I get someone to set this all up for me?
want to buy components and get someone to wire it up, rather than tech support, as we move these computers around the US and UK so tech support is not so useful….

    Hello Marcus,

We do have a number of users doing successful HD and even 2K work using Infortrend storage. This said, I would highly recommend that you hire a local reseller to do the integration. Hiring a reseller means you will have someone local that can take ownership of your entire setup, and this will prevent finger pointing in case you run into issues. There is really nothing worse when all the individual components work fine on their own, yetthe SAN faces performance and/or reliability issues. The configuration of the storage alone will be a critical step to achieve this level of performance…

Let me know if you have any questions. We do have partners in Australia that stand ready to assist!

    Best regards,
