  • importing text into after effects CS5 from a word document?

Posted by Esther Casas on August 29, 2012 at 4:09 pm

    Dear all,

I am about to do scrolling text with after effects CS5 and I have all the text typed in a word doc… If I try to copy and paste directly form the word doc into a solid in after effects, it doesn’t really work…i guess they are not compatible? It on;y works if I paste one single line at a time, but then it creates a layer every time I paste one…not good as I will have way too many layers…

what is the best way to do this?
    thank you!!

Not sure why you mean by pasting into a solid. A solid layer won’t hold text information. You really should just be able to select all your text in Word, copy it, then create a text layer in After Effects, select the text layer, and paste.

Microsoft Word? Try pasting it into notepad first and then copy from that and paste to After Effects. Word might also have a “copy plain text” command, but I don’t recall.

When you copy text from Word, you’re also copying all the formatting information and that can mess royally with programs that expect plain text.

This would be my first troubleshooting step.

    Mr. Casas
May be you are trying a wrong method.

    1. Copy the text from Word Doc.
    2. Now in AE, Press ” Cntr/Cmnd + T ” and without clicking anywhere else press ” Cntr/Cmnd + V “.
