    Hi,

I’ve added english closed caption (ITT) on my spanish interviews in fcpx 10.4.3
I want to export a QT movie for a projection on screen. The problem is when I open the file,
    the subtitles are not embedded.

I did activate (role) them in the index panel and checked the ITT box at the export stage.

I’m not familiar with closed-caption at all.

    Anybody knows what I’m missing?

You mean you want the captions burned in to the video (with no way to turn them off)?

This option is available in FCPX 10.4.4 but not 10.4.3.

ITT is for iTunes only and is never embedded.
CEA will be embedded for supported languages.

Otherwise follow Jeremy’s advice and upgrade to 10.4.4 and you can get a “poor man’s” burn in.

I -think- you can do a burn-in. regardless of FCPX version number, if you render it out using Compressor. Worth a shot?

    [Mark Suszko] “Worth a shot?”
    Definitively not 😉

I used the latest FCPX to create my ITT files and would like to create an SRT file out of it somehow.
I read up on the YouTube option but is there another way?
And if I were to use Spherico X-Title, will that export the ITT to an SRT?

You can do srt in fcpx, just change the caption role to srt.

Thanks just figured that. Is there a way to do a mass edit?
I tried selecting them all and dragging it to the SRT channel and FCPX crashes.

I really should leap before I ask here ????

Thanks, Jeremy for getting me started.

I switched the ITT to CEA and it seems to work.
At export, I chose to save as a file.
I don’t recall but does the CC embed as well into the exported clip?
My last CC project was in Premiere.
    Many moons ago 🙂

CEA 608 allows embedded the caption in to the file (closed captions).

The other formats are separate files (ITT & SRT) and do not support embedding in to the file.

You can also burn-in (open captions) all formats as well by hitting the “captions” button in the Role tab of the share window.

    Should look something like this:
