  • change duration not working?

Posted by Kyrina Bluerose on November 2, 2018 at 9:13 am

    selecting a clip
    yellow selection box
    ctrl+d
    or right-click select change duration
not working. not even turning purple, won’t accept numbers.

I can trim, and I can ctr+opt+r and enter number there but that takes longer…

    any fixes?

    Thanks!

How are you selecting the clip? Use ‘c’ and not ‘x’ to select a clip

selecting clip in timeline – I usually just click on it.

it worked before I updated and now it doesn’t.

First, see if you have some sort of custom keyboard preset selected (under Final Cut Pro > Commands menu).

Check to see if control-d is mapped to something else (or not mapped to Change Duration)

If that doesn’t work, try trashing your preferences by quitting FCPX, and then hold command-option while you launch FCPX.

    Thanks!

Brand new FCPX; not sure why it didn’t work but that fixed it. Can’t imagine how much more slowly the work would go without control d.
